Crash Course in Ethics

Dear Curious Souls,
Do you ever feel like what’s missing from the world today is some sense of ethics? Does it seem like people act based on the whim of whatever they feel like doing in the moment, without much thought for personal or political integrity or the consequences of their actions? Does it seem like the long view of human health and flourishing has been forgotten?
In our upcoming Crash Course in Ethics series of workshops, we'll be introducing and examining classic and contemporary approaches to ethical thinking. This will offer us a variety of tools that will deepen and sharpen our ability to grapple with big questions about how we should live and what we should do when faced with dilemmas that deeply affect the character of our own and others' lives.
Our January 3-week workshop will focus on classic approaches, introducing virtue ethics, duty-based ethics, and consequence-based ethics. Our March 3-week workshop will focus on contemporary approaches, introducing feminist and environmental ethics that critique classic approaches and expand ethics in new directions. Workshops can be taken independently or as a series.

Come with us to:
  • Learn and critically examine a variety of approaches to ethical thinking
  • Consider how different approaches can apply to current ethical crises, personal and political
  • Experiment with putting ethical insights to work in your life

What Our Clients Are Saying

"Monica meets you on every level: She’ll readily engage with any abstract ideas you have about the world or the self, and analyze those ideas with you, but she also has a way of making you feel that she viscerally understands the difficulty of the situations you’re describing. When I talk to her, I have the feeling that I’m talking to someone who is very present, who is on my side, and who has also fought to be able to live her own life on her terms."
"Conversations with Monica feel non-hierarchical. She is working through the questions with you, not diagnosing you or analyzing you."
"I get the sense that philosophical counseling for Monica is an extension of who she is. These difficult topics are a part of her own life, and she is comfortable talking about what is uncomfortable."
