William James Workshop Approaching

Dear Curious Souls,

We're excited for our upcoming October workshop on William James!

James is perhaps best known as one of the founders of American Pragmatism, but he is also a thinker who struggled personally with some of the big human crises that we all seem to face at one time or another concerning what makes life meaningful, whether life is worth living, how faith and scientific reasoning shape our attitudes about life itself, and how we can come to understand and value those whose ways of life seem to be significantly different from our own.

Faced this last year with a global pandemic, environmental catastrophe, isolation, and political polarization, we've had to deal with our fair share of pessimism about life, loss of meaning, crises of faith, debates about science, and general alienation. We're well-primed to join James in thinking about the problems that were at the forefront of his life, just as they are at the forefront of ours.

Here at Curious Soul, we're also super excited to welcome former philosophy professor Louis Colombo to be our fearless leader for our October workshop! I've been scheming for some time about how to get Louis to Curious Soul, as I know he joins us in our enthusiasm about philosophy's power to help us with the big struggles of life. Thanks to Zoom, Louis will be able to join us from Florida. (I'm feeling quite victorious about this!).

We hope you can join us!

What Our Clients Are Saying

"Monica meets you on every level: She’ll readily engage with any abstract ideas you have about the world or the self, and analyze those ideas with you, but she also has a way of making you feel that she viscerally understands the difficulty of the situations you’re describing. When I talk to her, I have the feeling that I’m talking to someone who is very present, who is on my side, and who has also fought to be able to live her own life on her terms."
"Conversations with Monica feel non-hierarchical. She is working through the questions with you, not diagnosing you or analyzing you."
"I get the sense that philosophical counseling for Monica is an extension of who she is. These difficult topics are a part of her own life, and she is comfortable talking about what is uncomfortable."
